Diablo fan Jinx_Spam has pointed out a set of new posts by Bashiok which directly answered some questions regarding the gameplay video we saw at the WWI.
Here are some smaller information I gathered from watching Diablo 3’s gameplay video. Some may be obvious but have not been posted, so here it goes!
Saturday, 28th June 2008 - the day demons rose once more in Diablo 3.
With the announcement of Diablo 3 and the evident excitement building I’ve been reflecting on another relatively recent game launch, the hype preceding it’s launch, and it’s failure to gather the critical acclaim that so many eager fans wanted: Hellgate London.
The fact that I’m mentioning the two games in the same breath shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, not even the developers: Flagship Studios (FSS) endeavored to lever some extra hype into their product by precision use of the “From the makers of Diablo” message. Many people now excited about the prospect of D3 were (and some still are, I guess?) excited about HG:L.
What I do find strange is that very few people are really looking at the roots of these two games. Whilst I don’t think they really should be compared as like games, we shouldn’t dismiss where they both came from …
Blizzard just announced that the next expansion pack to World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King, is set to get achievements.
While Wrath of the Lich King will improve many of World of Warcraft’s existing features, it will also introduce plenty of brand-new ones to keep the game fresh and interesting. One of these new features is sure to suit a wide range of play styles: achievements. These self-contained goals will offer new challenges, satisfy goal-oriented players, allow others to see your accomplishments in World of Warcraft — and are just plain fun.
World of Warcraft’s achievements system will launch with more than 500 individual achievements covering every aspect of gameplay, including world exploration, PvE, PvP, professions, and character development; from the purely whimsical to the truly epic, there will be something for everyone. Some achievements come with in-game rewards such as tabards, vanity pets, and titles. All of these rewards are purely cosmetic and just for fun, but you’ll certainly stand out when you proudly display them.
And don’t fret about running out of achievements anytime soon. The list is easily expandable, so you can expect additional achievements with each new World of Warcraft content update.
Karune has posted yet another question and answer session for us on the official Starcraft 2 forums. This batch mainly discusses the new position of the Zerg Queen, who can no longer build Zerg defensive buildings, and the new vespene gas mechanic.
Michael Huang was one of the guys back at Blizzard North, back in the Diablo 2 days, where he was a technical director on the game. Once he left Blizzard, he went on to Castaway Entertainment to futher develop games. He now works at Stanford University.
While the above information doesn’t seem like it relates much to Diablo 3, what however does, is the fact that Michael runs his own Blog. The latest post there is about Diablo 3, and Michael’s thoughts on it, based on the fact that his team also started work on Diablo 3 back in the day.

When users queried about whether Diablo III will feature ’soulbound’ items, like “Bind on Pickup” and “Bind on Equip” in World of Warcraft, Blizzard poster Bashiok replied that there will not be any ’soulbound’ items in the game. Continue reading this entry »
Blizzard poster Bashiok has been sporting a brand new avatar on the official website featuring what looks like a skinny gecko-like creature with horns and a staff. It looks to be none other than a Fallen Shaman.
